Garden of Eden!

Good morning everyone, the kalahari is still full of flowers but the grass is gradually turning more yellow. There has been a lot of cheetah and lion-sightings in the south but unfortunately no leopards. Hopefully they show themselves soon. The grass is very tall in the north and make sightings difficult. Today I share with you a little Scaly-feathered Finch among beautiful flowers. The Scaly-feathered Finch is a Southern African bird that belongs to the Ploceidae bird family group which includes birds such as Weavers, Queleas, Windowbirds. The Scaly-feathered Finch is known in Afrikaans as Baardmannetjie.

This bird forages for food on the ground. This bird eats insects such as butterflies, bees, wasps, locusts and ants. These invertebrates are usually hawked aerially, killed and then eaten.

Enjoy and see you soon.

PS, there was a cancellation on the  18-22 June Photographic safari, so anyone interested, let me know.
